Punjab Police Constable 2026

Punjab Police has published the official advertisement (Advt. No. 01 of 2026) for the direct recruitment of Police Constables in the District and Armed Cadre. The application process will be conducted online through the common computer-based test (CBT).

1. Vacancy Details & Pay Scale

A total of 3298 tentative vacancies have been announced, which may increase or decrease.

District Police Cadre: 2522 Posts (825 reserved for women)
Armed Police Cadre: 776 Posts (259 reserved for women)
Pay Scale: Minimum pay admissible is Rs. 19,900/- per month for three years from the date of joining.

4. Eligibility Criteria

A. Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)

Minimum Age: 18 years
Maximum Age: 28 years
Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/BC of Punjab (Max age 33 years) and regular Govt employees.

B. Educational Qualification (as on 01.01.2026)

Standard: 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized Board/University. For Ex-Servicemen, the minimum is Matriculation.
Mandatory: Candidates must have passed the Matriculation examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects.

C. Physical Standards (PMT)

5. Selection Process

The selection process will consist of three stages:

Stage-I: Common Computer Based Test (CBT) - Paper I & Paper II.
Stage-II: Physical Screening Test (PST) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT). Both are qualifying in nature.
Stage-III: Document Scrutiny.

Note: Since tests run in multiple shifts, scores will be calculated using the Mean Standard Deviation Normalization method.

6. Exam Pattern & Syllabus (CBT)

Paper-I: 100 Objective Type Questions (100 Marks, 2 Hours). No Negative Marking.

Paper-II: Mandatory Qualifying Test of Punjabi Language (50 Questions, 50 Marks, 1 Hour). Must score 50% to qualify. Marks not counted for merit.
